About Christina Cultural Arts Center

The Role of Parents & Adult Caregivers in Arts Learning

Parents play an important role in the learning process. Regular attendance and punctual arrival for children and teens require the commitment of adults. Parents and adult family members are invited into the studio on the first day of class to meet the instructor. At this time, the instructor will discuss their teaching philosophy, give an overview class content, and share strategies with adults to help children develop artistically. Parents will receive guidance in helping children achieve a degree of independence. After the introductory class, parents will be invited into the studio to meet with faculty on a quarterly basis. Scheduled times may be arranged with faculty to discuss progress. Written feedback is provided in the form of a faculty evaluation each session. Parents/students have the opportunity to evaluate the quality of instruction as well.

Family Services

CCAC offers professional intervention for individuals, families, and groups in need of counseling support. Resolution of conflicts, child/parent problems, coping with adolescence, grief, chronic health conditions, behavior challenges, self-esteem, and anger management are a few of the challenges explored. Sessions are held by appointment. Counseling is handled in a respectful, confidential, and sensitive manner.

The Family Resource component of CCAC provides parents and families with workshops, seminars, and information to keep parents abreast of trends and issues impacting the home.
