2009 Christi Awards-- Tickets on sale now  
 
Join us in a celebration of the Arts and honoring four unsung champions of the Arts at the 2009 Christi Awards on Thursday, Oct. 22 at 6:30 p.m. in the baby grand. You are invited to enjoy our student and faculty performances as they exemplify the four elements of the Arts-Hope, Inspiration, Knowledge and Passion. Join in this unique celebration as our performers relate the elements of the Arts to the four elements of the universe-water, wind, earth and fire.

Guest Appearance by Broadway Star Sherry Boone
 
Sherry Boone has taken New York by storm since she first landed in Port Authority in 1991 with $50 dollars in her pocket. Since then Ms. Boone has created an explosive career as an actress, writer, director, opera singer and humanitarian. She debuted on Broadway in Jelly's Last Jam. Her 2007 triumphant London debut in the Royal Festival Hall's production of Carmen Jones directed by Jude Kelly garnered the following praise:

Dance Theater of Harlem visits CCAC

Thursday November 5th @ 6:00PM-7:15PM
Tickets $ 10 Adults & $5 Non-CCAC Students
 
The internationally acclaimed Dance Theater of Harlem, founded by Arthur Mitchell, will be in residence at CCAC for (1) day only on 11/5. An interactive demonstration on the art of classical ballet with live piano music and a virtual performance will take place at CCAC.
 
A narrator leads participants through the process of making a dancer, specific exercises are demonstrated and excerpts of DTH choreography is performed by company dancers.
 
The similarities between ballet dancers and professional athletes are explored. There will be numerous opportunities for teachers to develop lessons in many subject areas. This program is appropriate for dancers of all ages and abilities, athletes, teaching artists, academic teachers, parents and the general arts loving public.
 
Audience interaction is encouraged and dancers should wear dance attire.

The Dance Theater of Harlem Residency is part of a national tour made possible in part by the National Endowment for the Arts and the Delaware Division of the Arts, a state agency committed to reinforcing the value of the arts as basic education.
Eleone Dance Theater in Carols in Color

"Carols in Color" is a holiday dance musical that re-tells the gospel according to St. Matthew through contemporary music, exuberant dance and powerful narration. Conceived and choreographed by E. Leon Evans II, adapted and re-staged by Shawn Lamere Williams, Artistic Director and Dr. Sheila A. Ward, Executive Director, "Carols in Color" brings audiences to their feet!
